Information

Rysy is the highest Tatra peak on the Polish side and the main destination for many tourists. It consist of three vertices. The highest one, 2503 m above sea level, is located in Slovakia. The lower peak, for tourists, is 2499 m above sea level and is located on the Polish-Slovak border. You can get to Rysy by two tourist routes. One of them, considered to be simpler, leads from the Slovak side. The second, more demanding one, climbs from the Czarny Staw pod Rysami to the summit on the Polish side and is an extension of the red trail leading from Palenica Białczańska to Morskie Oko. For this reason, this route is very popular also among inexperienced tourists. The walk from the parking lot at Palenica Białczańska to the top of Rysy is a trip that takes about six and a half hours. During this time, the tourist climbs over 1700 meters up. In the upper part of the trail, leading from Czarny Staw pod Rysami, there are artificial facilities in the form of chains on the most difficult parts of the road. In total, their length is as much as 360 meters. The most difficult part of the trail has a slope of over 30 percent and leads through shaded sections. From the top you can admire beautiful views of the High and Belianske Tatras. If you want to extend your trip, you can go down to Slovakia, to the Chata pod Rysami hostel. The trip will take only half an hour, while the return trip to Rysy will take no more than 45 minutes.
