Information

Ślęża mountain is the highest peak of the Ślęża Massif in the Sudeten Foreland near Wrocław. It is located in the area of the Ślężański Landscape Park between the following towns: Sulistrowiczki, Sulistrowice, Będkowice, Strzegomiany, Sobótka, Sady and Tąpadła. The name of the mountain probably comes from the Slavic word "ślęg" (damp, wet, wet weather, mud), which means wet and often foggy places. It has to do with the specific climate prevailing here, which is characterized by a relatively large amount of rainfall. The mountain is 718 m above sea level and is an excellent vantage point on the Sowie Mountains in the Sudetes and the Silesian Lowlands. At the top there is a church from 1852, a shelter named after Roman Zmorski from 1908, a TV mast, an observation tower, a millennium cross from 2000, bear sculpture and fragments of the castle walls between the church and a group of Castle Rocks. Ślęża mountain rising above Sobótka belongs to the Crown of Polish Mountains. The massif and its surroundings are covered with a fairly dense network of hiking trails. There are two archaeological paths marked with the symbol of the Silesian bear and bicycle routes.
