Information

The center of Kalisz fairy tales and legends is located in the Greater Poland in the medieval Dorothy Tower, which remained after the defensive walls that once surrounded the city. This is a place where visitors can learn about the legends of Kalisz and the history of the city, the Piast state and the Polish state. The historical past of the city is located to the lower floor of the "Dorotka" Tower, where visitors can watch a multimedia presentation on the early medieval stronghold in Zawodzie, the location of the city and its oldest buildings, as well as the events that took place in Kalisz during the Piast times. It is accompanied by a mural created by Damian Kwiatkowski, placed on the wall near the tower. In the upper room of the tower, visitors can see animated films depicting four legends from Kalisz, including "Dorotka" and "Silent Frogs", accompanied by sculptures made by the artist Dr. Jolanta Wdowczyk, depicting foreman’s daughter Dorothy imprisoned in the tower and her beloved shoemaker Martin kneeling in front of the tower, and four "silent frogs", placed around the tower, from the side of the city park, enchanted by St. Adalbert for disturbing him in prayer.
