Information

The ceramic figures of medieval Toruń burghers (Polish: Figurki ceramiczne mieszczn toruńskich) is an idea to revive historic architecture, as well as attracting attention to interesting and often overlooked details. In order to see them, visitors have to go for a walk around Toruń's beautiful old town and have a good look around to notice these tiny figures in the recesses of Gothic buildings. They were created by artists from Toruń, with tourists in mind. The first to appear in 2007 was a group of townspeople whose figures refer to the medieval painting of the Passion of Christ from the Church of St. James. On the wall at Podmurna Street and in the window niches of the courtyard of the Old Town Hall, visitors can admire figures of townspeople and even the Teutonic knight in a coat and helmet. Also on Podmurna Street, on the old brick embankments between the Koci Łeb Tower and the CCA building, readers sat down - several characters engrossed in reading books. Moving on, visitors can see a group of angels on the windows of the Reading Center for Sick and Disabled at Szczytna Street. The angels refer to the coat of arms of Toruń and are a symbol of God's protection over the city.
