Information

The historic Ignacy mine in Rybnik is a museum and cultural facility that combines museum functions in a modern way with the organization of extraordinary cultural events. The mine is located in Rybnik in the Niewiadom district at Ignacego Mościckiego Street and has been open to visitors since 1999. The main attraction of the open-air museum are two steam engines: the first from 1900 serving the Głowacki shaft, the second from 1920, works at the Kościuszko shaft. They are an excellent example of the industrial thought of that time and a perfectly preserved heritage of the mining past of Rybnik.
Additionally, there is an exhibition devoted to mining in the administration building. It allows you to see exhibits related to the history and culture of mining. There is a 46-meter high water tower in the mine, currently used as a viewing point, which offers a beautiful view of the city skyline. In the area of the Historic Ignacy Mine, many events of various nature are organized. Staging, exhibitions, shows, concerts and rallies are just a few in which anyone willing can participate. The historic Ignacy mine is located on the Industrial Monuments Route.

Please note that ITS-Poland works with groups only (10 participants and more).
