Information

The Museum of the Former German Kulmhof Death Camp in Chełmno on Ner was established in June 1990 as a branch of the District Museum in Konin. Since July 2013, it has been a branch of the Martyrdom Museum in Luboń-Żabików. The museum covers the area of the former camp, the ruins of the palace and the archaeological research area in Chełmno. There is an exhibition in the pavilion illustrating the history of the camp. There is also a lapidary of tombstones from Jewish cemeteries in the Konin region. In the forest near Chełmno, in the place of the former makeshift hearths and cremation pyres, a monument was erected in memory of hundreds of thousands of victims. There is also the Wall of Remembrance, built in 1990 on the discovered relics of the crematorium. Families of the deceased from all over the world place individual memorial plaques on their walls.The mission of the Museum is to preserve the memory of the site of the first immediate extermination center.
