Stara Kopalnia (Polish: Stara Kopalnia w Wałbrzychu) is located in the Biały Kamień district, less than 2 km from the Wałbrzych Market Square. The mine complex includes a bathhouse, lamp room, boiler rooms, a mechanical workshop, hoisting machines buildings, headlamps, towers of the "Julia", "Sobótka" and "Dampf" shafts, an observation tower, an underground tunnel for stone haulage, as well as buildings of a mechanical coal processing plant, consisting of from the full technological line: sorting plant, washer and flotation. The sightseeing route includes the engine room of the "Julia" shaft, which houses a unique historic electric hoisting machine with an AC to DC converter, operating from 1912 and used until the mine was closed. The exhibition in the mine's mechanical workshops presents their former equipment. The tour takes place daily from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (last admission is at 4.00 p.m.)
