Information

The Tropsztyn Castle in Wytrzyszczka near Czchów is one of the interesting attractions of Małopolska. It was built in the 13th century. The first ruler of the building was Dobrosław Ośmiróg called Gierałt. Over time, it had different inhabitants and also changed its destiny. In the first centuries of its existence, it performed defensive functions. It was one of the strongholds that guarded the security of the trade route towards Hungary and the seat of knights. However, the robbers also lived there for some time and hence they attacked the inhabitants and visitors of the area. According to legend, it is here, in the tunnels and dungeons under Tropsztyn, that the Inca treasure was hidden in the 18th century, first brought to the castle in Niedzica. In the 16th century, the castle was destroyed and became a ruin for over 400 years. In 1995, its reconstruction began. Since 2005, it has been made available to tourists. The castle is rebuilt like a castle from the 14th century. It is a stronghold without any comforts, as in those days, where life was carried out with a slow fire, without toilets and all the amenities of the 21st century. Visitors will have the opportunity to climb the tower, dungeons and chambers, and watch a documentary about the search for the legendary Inca treasure. Sightseeing is only possible during the summer holidays. For most of the year, Tropsztyn Castle is inaccessible to tourists.
