Information

Tykocin is located about 30 km from Białystok (35 min drive) and 180 km from Warsaw (about 3 h drive). The castle was reconstructed on the foundations from the 16th century, Renaissance castle of one of Polish kings Sigismund Augustus as unfortunately, the original construction was demolished for its building materials in the 18th century. The historic castle was built in the shape of a trapezoid with 4 corner towers. The reconstruction started in 2002. Nowadays, in the castle we can find a museum, a restaurant and a guesthouse. The castle can be visited with a guide and sightseeing takes about 35 min. In the castle’s basements there is a museum exhibition about the castle history. Tourists also visit the Glass Chamber and the Prison Tower from which they can admire beautiful panoramic view to the surrounding area. The castle offers full gastronomy services. The restaurant and 2 multi-function rooms have common conference and banquet area of 1000 m2. The guesthouse offers 6 rooms. Every year there is also a reconstruction event organized called castle siege during Swedish war. Tykocin Castle is a fairly new architecture attraction which is really worth visiting.
