Waterfall in Iwla

Information

The waterfall in Iwla is located in the southern part of the village on the Iwełka stream. It is one of the few in the Low Beskids. In 2002, it was declared a natural monument. It is 4 meters high, and in the thickets, on the right bank of the river, there are foundations of a water mill, the construction of which was interrupted by the outbreak of the war in 1939. It is easily accessible, close to the main road, in the valley that has been called the "Valley of Death" since World War II. The Dukla Commune Bicycle Trail (blue signs) runs next to the waterfall. This waterfall was largely promoted by the 2008 film "Strawberry Wine" directed by Dariusz Jabłoński, which was based on the short stories by Andrzej Stasiuk entitled Galician Tales. That is why tourists often call it a strawberry waterfall. Officially, the waterfall in Iwla is called the waterfall at the Mill on the Iwielka stream.
