Some school groups have more advanced program than the others. This time we want to tell you about the group that was interested in astronomy. The group was coming from Denmark, it counted 28 junior high school students and 2 teachers. They were staying in Cracow from the 19th to 23rd of April 2015. Apart from ordinary Cracow Old Town sightseeing and Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi German Concentration Camp Museum they also visited astronomical observatory of Jagiellonian University that we arranged and an astronomy instruments exhibition in Collegium Maius the oldest university building and a museum. They were able to do some tour around observatory with one of researchers working in the observatory and also ask questions about their everyday work. We have sent our translator with the group to enable better communication. The educational visit in such real, operational astronomical observatory has definitely stayed in the students’ memories for a long time. We deeply encourage our groups not only to visit typical tourist sights, we are always also happy to help with organizing more unusual visits, to sites which are not normally visited by tourists. Just let us know your field of interest and we will send you a proposal for such an educational or business type knowledge exchange.
