The spacious rooms at the first floor are waiting for guests, who may enjoy the exceptional view of the Main Market Square with St. Mary’s Church and the Cloth Hall. Restaurant Wentzl continues a tradition dating back to 1792 when
Jan Wentzl moved his catering facility to "Pod Obrazem" (Under the Painting) tenement house at the Main Market Square, which he received in dowry from his wife Marja Hallerówna. For more than 220 years the halls on the ground floor of the building at Market Square 19 have accepted guests, both from Cracow and visitors. At the end of the nineteenth century it was a meeting place for the most prestigious Polish painters. Here the idea of establishing the National Museum first appeared. The modern character of the restaurant in the past few years was created by the experts of Polish and French art of gastronomy. Wentzl is not only a restaurant it is a historic place operating on its own rights.
